Grow lights are used to mimic the effect of the sun indoors. They can vary in color temperature as well as intensity, and should be selected based upon the specific needs of the garden. There are several kinds of grow light bulbs to choose from, including incandescent and LED, but the most popular are high pressure sodium and metal halide, although fluorescent bulbs are becoming popular as well. A reflector, ballast, and timer are all necessary components of a complete grow light system.
